RAFAEL SALDARRIAGA nació en Medellín
Colombia en 1955. Llego a los Estados Unidos en 1993. Después de vivir en
Aiowa, New Mexico, Hawaii, estableció su residencia en la ciudad de Nueva
York.
Estudio en la Academia de Arte Libe de Zulateqi y se gradúa en Arquitectura
y Urbanismo en la Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana. En 1984 empezó a pintar
profesionalmente.
Desarrolló su estilo retomando elementos Clásicos y Criollos y utilizando
naranjas, frutas, mesas, canastas, paisajes, flores y colores festivos entre otros
elementos que le da un sabor especial a sus creaciones.
El utiliza las imágenes de cada dia para conectar lo simple con lo universal.
Su trabajo habla acerca de su apreciación a la armonía, el equilibrio;
la mezcla perfecta entre la naturaleza y elementos hechos por el hombre. El trabajo
de Saldarriaga exalta la fecundidad y sensualidad de una cosecha abundante y suculenta,
lo femenino, el concepto de la vida, el contenedor y su contenido, lo voluptuoso,
lo sensual, lo erótico, el color y la forma.

RAFAEL SALDARRIAGA was born in Medellin, Colombia in 1955. Arrived in the United
States in 1993. After living in New Mexico and Hawaii stablished his residency in
New York City.
He studied in Live de Zulateqi's Art Academy and also graduated from the school of
Architecture and Urban Design with Pontificia Bolivariana University. In 1984 he
became a full time painter.
Saldarriaga developed his original style based on Classical and Creole elements.
He uses oranges and other fruits, tables, baskets, landscapes, flowers and festive
colors among other elements to express the special flavor of his creations.
Saldarriaga uses images from every day events to connect the simple with the universal.
His work speaks about his appreciation of harmony, balance; the perfect blend between
nature and man-made elements. Saldarriagaís work extols the fecundity and sensuousness
of an abundant and luscious harvest, the feminine, the concept of life, the container
and its content, the representation of the voluptuous, the sensual and the erotic,
the color and form.
